We Protect Those Who Protect and Serve, be it on Two Legs or Four

At Team Wendy, we design and manufacture personal protection equipment for special operations groups in the military, law enforcement, search and rescue, and adventure communities that save lives. While our products are made for the two-legged variety, many of the brave men and women we serve have K9 partners who risk their lives every day right alongside their handlers.

We don’t have an official “bring your dog to work day” at Team Wendy; we’re fortunate to have the freedom to bring our dogs to work any time we want. They go where we go, except on our manufacturing plant floor, of course. They’re part of our team and make each day more fun. While we don’t currently make any products to protect our four-legged friends, we always want to help them if we can.

September is National Service Dog Month, so when we learned about Vested Interest in K9s and their mission, we knew we wanted to donate a lifesaving K9 vest; not only for our love of dogs, but also because we have a vested interest in protecting those who protect and serve. We truly believe in our mission – for those that go on two legs or four.

Established in 2009, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. (VIK9s) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. A donation of just $950 makes it possible to provide a vest to one working K9. Each certified vest comes with a warranty of five years and is custom fitted to each dog.

Since its inception, VIK9s has provided more than 2,900 protective vests to K9s in all 50 states through private and corporate donations. To learn more about their work and their mission, visit www.vik9s.org.

Our recent donation was given to a working LE dog, though we don't yet know where; we should learn details in the coming weeks and will share them if given permission by the department and the dog's handler.
