Princeton Tec® and Team Wendy® – Advocates for Innovation and Customer Safety

Princeton Tec® has been pioneering new technologies and building lights since 1975.
The company started out as a small family business that developed solutions to keep SCUBA divers safe and comfortable – a pastime that the company’s founder held great passion for.  Princeton Tec‘s genesis was creating the world’s first automatic dive timer in 1975, and from the late 70’s through the 80’s their product lineup evolved to include gauge consoles, lights and even watches –  just about everything the SCUBA diver needed to dive safely. 

The focus on lighting came in the 90’s, when the company brought the first LED headlamp to market in 1999.  Since then, Princeton Tec has expanded to innovative lighting solutions spanning multiple industries.  Presently, Princeton Tec develops and manufactures personal lighting systems for outdoor, tactical, industrial, bike and scuba professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Enter Team Wendy®.  When Princeton Tec joined the tactical arena, they reached out to Team Wendy for a sample helmet to mount their lighting solutions on for display at a tradeshow in 2012.  Thus began an industry partnership that continues to thrive today.

In 2013, Team Wendy reached out to Princeton Tec seeking collaboration to create a light mount for the Charge MPLS that would work on our EXFIL® helmet rails.  Princeton Tec came up with the design for us in 2014, and we started carrying it in our product lineup in 2015.
Princeton Tec is also a leading manufacturer of headlamps that offer direct mount to an NVG platform.  When Team Wendy launched the EXFIL SAR helmets in 2016, Princeton Tec had so many customers ask for headlamps for the SARs that we started carrying those in our accessory lineup as well. 
As we prepare to launch the M-216™ Ski Search and Rescue Helmet, Team Wendy has continued to reach out for collaboration with Princeton Tec.  The M-216 will come with two different Princeton Tec task lights for customers to choose from; the Switch MPLS and the Switch Rail MPLS.  These task lights will have the ability to mount directly to the rails of the M-216, and Princeton Tec readily shared the design for these to help us design our rail system accordingly. 
Team Wendy engineers and designers have found the folks at Princeton Tec to be more than generous with their time and very easy to work with.  They place high value on the working relationship they’ve forged with Princeton Tec.

Team Wendy also appreciates that Princeton Tec is motivated to push technology and design, as we do.  Princeton Tec wants to ensure their customers have lighting solutions where technology is applied, and the performance of their lights makes sense for how their customers use them.

Today, Princeton Tec is still a family-owned and run business.  They house their own engineering and design teams, and run their own machine shop and injection molding facilities.  They’re proud of the fact that they’ve remained an American manufacturer and local employer since the beginning, as has Team Wendy.
