U.S. Marines Have Remained Faithful For 245 Years
Back to Blog
Team Wendy is proud to work with America’s expeditionary force
On Nov. 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men have borne the name ‘Marine.’ In memory of them it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history.
Major General Commandant John A. Lejeune
Marine Corps Order No. 47
, Nov. 1, 1921
It’s safe to say that without the U.S. Marine Corps, America may not be what it is today.
The Continental Marines accomplished its
first amphibious landing
in hostile territory in 1776 at Fort Nassau in the Bahamas, where the British kept large amounts of gunpowder and military stores for the fight against the rebelling colonies.
The British troops surrendered within minutes. This success paved the way for greater victories in the Revolutionary War and in the many fights to come on land, sea and air.
Marines won the Battle of Chapultepec in the Mexican-American War that outlined the border between the two countries. They overcame the enemy with an iconic victory at the Battle of Iwo Jima during WWII. They proved their unwavering resolve at the Battle of Hue in Vietnam, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and the search for insurgents in urban Iraq.
Marines are America’s trained force in readiness.
Team Wendy’s partnership with the Marines began in 2005 when our
ZAP™ (Zorbium
®
Action Pads) 7-Pad NSN Liner System
became the standard issue liner system authorized for use in ground combat helmets worn by the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
Last year, Team Wendy was awarded first place in the
Marine Corps Systems Command’s PM ICE Helmet Retention Competition
with the submission of our
CAM FIT™ Retention System
. The PM ICE team sought retention systems compatible with the ECH that could provide better stability, adjustability and comfort.
We also recognize the amazing work U.S. Marines do after their service has ended. Marines Jake Wood and William McNulty founded
Team Rubicon
in the aftermath of the 2010 Haitian earthquake to provide critical humanitarian aid in the wake of natural disasters. The cofounders
credit
the training and mentality instilled in them by the USMC for the success of the veteran volunteer organization. Team Wendy donated
search and rescue helmets
to help in their mission.
We thank the men and women of the U.S. Marine Corps – including our own Director of Sales and Business Development Mike Romanchek, former USMC artillery officer – for their extraordinary valor in defense of our nation throughout the Marine Corps’ long and illustrious history.
