I am an active Law Enforcement Officer for a large agency in California with over 16 years of experience. I started as a Law Enforcement Explorer at the age of 16 and continued until I was hired full-time at the age of 21. I have been serving my community for over half of my lifetime. I was drawn to this career because I want to help others, especially community members who cannot help themselves.
I have always been a gun and gear enthusiast, even before I was sworn in as a LEO. I was never satisfied with only using the equipment issued to me. If there was a piece of kit that wasn't a mandatory requirement and made my job easier or better, I would search for it, test it, and use it for work. The same goes for training. The Academy was just a starting point, and I trained on my own time, taking numerous courses over the years to include firearms and combative.
I started my blog, Fifty Shades of FDE, in 2013 to write about my experiences with products that I used. The name of the blog came as a joke after I got my SCAR 17 in FDE, which came in at least three different shades of FDE from the factory. In 2015, I created my Instagram page @fiftyshadesoffde, which is a hybrid page that is a combination of my original posts and reposts of high-quality content to promote every FDE and safe firearms education. My goal is to help educate other LEOs as well as civilians on guns and gear to share knowledge and assist them in making the right financial decisions on equipment.
Over the years, I have built many relationships with great companies in the gun industry. I enjoy testing all the products that are sent to me and giving critiques and feedback in return. Team Wendy is a company that focuses on protecting the most important organ in our bodies, our brain. To do that, they have done a lot of research and come up with solutions in the form of high-quality helmets to fit specific needs and requirements. In my field of law enforcement, the Team Wendy Exfil Ballistic Helmet is lightweight and extremely comfortable. It offers protection from ballistic threats as well as blunt force impacts. It is the Helmet choice for my agency's SWAT Team, along with many surrounding agencies. Each team thoroughly evaluates every piece of gear they use to ensure they go with the best, unlike general government contracts that seek the lowest bidder. I want a helmet that I have full confidence in, with rated ballistic protection, and is comfortable to wear for long hours. The more comfortable a helmet, the more likely it is that I'll wear it, and it's something that doesn't bother me, allowing me to stay focused on the task at hand. The Team Wendy Exfil does all of that very well.
Team Wendy is constantly researching ways to improve and protect the brain from injuries. They understand who their customers are and what threats they face. They design and produce every component that goes into a helmet, including the shell, pads, and harness. This gives Team Wendy total control of the entire helmet system. Team Wendy also makes their products here in the USA, keeping Americans employed. I trust their products to keep me safe, as many LEOs and service members do. I support their mission, products, and employees who protect the lives of their end users.
