Wendy’s Story

Team Wendy is more than a company – it’s a legacy. Cleveland entrepreneur Dan T. Moore founded Team Wendy in 1997 as a memorial to his daughter, who died tragically from a traumatic brain injury following a snow skiing accident. Wendy was an artist, athlete and sister. Our core values are drawn from the characteristics Wendy herself demonstrated.
 
In Wendy Moore’s memory, we are steadfast in our dedication to the pursuit of improving head protection for those who risk their lives every day. We do this through cutting-edge research, thoughtful design and reliable customer service. Wendy's name lives on today in the protective products and gear used by hundreds of thousands worldwide, including the men and women of the United States Military.
 

History of Head Protection

Team Wendy’s first helmet, launched in 1998, was a ski helmet with a proprietary Zorbium^® foam liner. While it wasn’t considered cool or fashionable to wear a ski helmet in the '90s, Zorbium^® sent our business in a new direction.
 
In 2005, the Zorbium^® Action Pad (ZAP™) 7-Pad NSN Liner System became the approved liner system for all standard issue U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy ground combat helmets. Seventeen years later, Team Wendy still maintains this contract through partnership with National Industries for the Blind, and more than 7 million Team Wendy combat helmet liner systems have been supplied to U.S. servicemembers.
 
Team Wendy returned to its roots producing complete helmet systems in 2012 with the launch of the EXFIL^® Carbon tactical bump helmet. Today, Team Wendy offers eight helmets, a variety of compatible helmet accessories, aftermarket liner systems and aftermarket retention systems that allow combat, rescue and adventure operators to focus on their mission, not their helmet. Our products protect elite teams and organizations in more than 55 allied nations worldwide, including the U.S. Army 10th Special Forces Group, Australian Defence Force, Brazilian Federal Police and every U.S. federal FEMA team.

Team Wendy was recognized as a winner of the Cleveland Top Workplaces 2019 award by The Plain Dealer and was also named one of NorthCoast 99’s Best Places to Work in Northeast Ohio in 2016.
 
Avon Protection acquired Team Wendy in 2020, creating a global leader in head protection systems for the military and first responder markets. The Team Wendy brand is responsible for producing the most protective and comfortable helmets on the market and continues to keep Wendy’s legacy alive.
